Coffee Shops/Cafes to try around our Kampala Hotel

We have highlighted the best coffee shops/cafes to try around us during your stay with us below. Happy exploring!

Karveli:

This has to be our favourite coffee shop pick located only 2 minutes down the road from our hotel. Simply exit our hotel, turn left, walk down the road for two minutes and you’ll see a Karveli sign post across the road. We love this coffee shop/bakery because they have a very good selection of coffees. Almost feels like Starbucks. From freshly brewed African Coffee to Espressos, they have all the coffee fixes you may need. They also have an amazing pastry, cake and bread selection to go with your coffee/tea such as Tea Masala Danish Pastry, Red Velvet Cake and Nutella Star Bread.

1000 Cups Coffee Shop:

If you like your coffee strong and freshly ground, this is the place to visit. Also, if you are an information buff/looking for something a little touristy close to our hotel, this will be a fun stop. They stock different varieties of coffee from different parts of Uganda and you can pick the staff’s brains to find out more about where the coffee is grown, different varieties and their characteristics. Did you know that approximately 10% of Ugandan coffee is stocked on Starbuck’s shelves? So when you return home, you can give the Starbucks’ staff a lesson on Ugandan coffee 🙂 You can also buy coffee beans to take away.

Cafe Javas:

Located on the buzzing Kampala road, this large coffee shop will be a perfect stop after exploring and taking in the Kampala chaos on this busy road. Cafe Javas is a well established coffee shop chain in Kampala and you can expect consistency at this cafe. They have a small coffee selection but have some great bites to go along with your coffee whether you are looking to have breakfast, lunch or dinner. With a posh ambience and professional staff, this may be just the coffee experience you need after a long day.

Piato:

We wouldn’t call this a coffee shop but they have a cheap selection of coffees ranging from cappuccinos, cafe lates to Espressos. This restaurant has good food and it’s a decent and affordable place to grab a quick coffee and a meal. It’s located only 5 minutes down the road from us next to the French Embassy.

Our Restaurant:

If you simply don’t have the time to go out looking for coffee but need a coffee fix, we do serve freshly brewed coffee, English coffee and African coffee at our hotel. Feel free to have a relaxing cup of coffee without stepping out of our hotel – perfect when you just need to get on with that work.

Hope you find our coffee picks fun to explore. If you do visit them, let us know which was your favourite coffee shop and why you liked it.
